Do you have doors in your home? Of course you do. There are very few houses made in the developed world that don’t have at least a few doors. We use them, for example, for privacy, for hiding away a mess or for keeping others out of certain rooms.

What you might not think about, however, is the amount of stress that is being put on your door when it swings on its hinges. What feels like an effortless push for you, is carrying all the weight of the door and then swinging it around its axis. Over time, this can do damage to the hinges, and this is especially the case if the door wasn’t properly installed.

A good installation starts with a good door frame. The door frame needs to be square and firmly attached. The hinges also need to be installed properly, with screws that are long enough, as well as, strong enough to handle the forces they will be subjected to.
